As part of its ongoing efforts to combat environmental pollution and promote sustainability, the European Union (EU) is introducing significant changes to its Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). Starting in February 2025, the regulation will include strict restrictions on heavy metals and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in packaging materials. These new restrictions aim to reduce harmful substances in packaging waste and push the industry toward safer, more sustainable packaging solutions.
