Introduction
You spent months designing the front of your tube. The logo is perfect. The color is matched.
But have you looked at the back? specifically, the tail?
90% of brands settle for the default "Straight Seal." It works, but it’s boring.
In a crowded market, the shape of your seal is a subtle but powerful psychological cue. Is your brand "Clinical and Precise"? Or is it "Soft and Organic"?
Here is the SampoX guide to choosing the right tail for your story.
The Look:
A sharp, straight horizontal line. The corners are usually 90-degree angles.
The Vibe:
Professional, Clinical, Serious.
It says: "I am a standard, reliable product."
Pros & Cons:
Pro: Maximizes the printable area (you can print almost to the very bottom). It is the cheapest and fastest option.
Con: The "Scratch" Factor. Those sharp 90-degree corners can be surprisingly sharp. They can scratch a user's hand or tear the lining of a luxury makeup bag.
The Look:
A straight seal, but the two sharp corners are trimmed into smooth curves (R-shape).
The Vibe:
Safe, Gentle, Premium.
It says: "I care about the details."
Best Application:
Baby Care: Essential. You cannot have sharp edges around a baby.
Luxury Hand Cream: Prevents scratching inside a handbag.
The SampoX Advice: If you are charging more than $20 for your product, upgrade to Rounded Corners. It is a tiny cost for a huge upgrade in "hand-feel."
The Look:
The entire tail is cut into a specific shape—a convex curve (Arc), a wave, a leaf shape, or even a zigzag.
The Vibe:
Organic, Playful, Unique.
It says: "I am natural" (Leaf shape) or "I am fun" (Wave shape).
The Reality Check:
Cost: This requires a custom "Cutting Blade" mold. It’s a small one-time investment.
Design Limit: You lose about 3-5mm of height at the bottom, so keep your text higher up.
Here is a manufacturing detail that ruins many designs.
By law, you usually need a Batch Number and Exp Date on the seal.
Option A: Embossed (Pressed in). No ink. Subtle and clean. Best for minimalist designs.
Option B: Inkjet (Printed on). High contrast (Black dots). easier to read but can look "industrial" and messy.
Pro Tip: If you choose a Dark Tube, Embossing might be invisible. You must use White Inkjet or plan for a white box on the design.
